Precocious teenager Karin is abandoned by her father in rural Japan. She lives with her grandfather in a temple and meets Anzu, a giant “ghost cat” and notorious slacker who is sent to look after her. Karin distrusts her new guardian, sabotages Anzu’s odd jobs for the townspeople, and befriends the area’s eccentric forest spirits. In an effort to win Karin over, Anzu inadvertently makes a pact with the devil and all hell breaks loose.
