Decades after their 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament bout, Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence are once again rivals in the martial arts. During the filming of the original Karate Kid, the late director John G. The crew behind Cobra Kai rummaged through the studio’s vault and found tons of never-before-seen clips that they were able to incorporate into the series using flashes. Through this narrative and scope, I see Johnny as an inspirational figure who is trying his best to rebuild his life. Johnny is a very simple and down-to-earth character and he makes the most of the cards he’s dealt, isn’t that how we live? In a funny way, we see the arrogance and attitude of Daniel Larusso, who was originally the hero.
