Involved in a secret relationship with her deceased Army best friend, an Afghanistan veteran comes face to face with her Vietnam veteran grandfather at the family’s lakeside home. Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris previously starred together in Gone Baby Gone (2007). I saw this film at SXSW 2024 and it was the best film there (as also mentioned above). It’s based on a true story. It made me laugh, moved me to tears, and made me think more about veterans and the challenges they face when they return from war. I’m trying not to give too much away or spoil it for others, but if you’re going to watch it, have a box of tissues handy! The acting is incredible – with people like Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris, you can’t go wrong. I don’t know some of the other actresses/actors that well, but I definitely know their names now! They’re phenomenal. A must-see film with a very important message for viewers.
