I was shocked
Cutler Published by BMG Rights Management (UK) Limited.. Movies have been changing lately and I’m here for it. Megalopolis was a great mess, Joker 2 was a mess without being pretty (but I guess it took a risk), Terrifier 3 really made me sick (I didn’t sleep well last night because I saw it yesterday too) and now The Apprentice goes to some. crazy places There are a few points where I wonder “are they allowed to show this?”. Shocking scenes usually have a purpose.
Will Trump Sue?
I think the movie’s arguments are made without much subtlety, but I guess some people still think Jordan Belfort is cool based on The Wolf of Wall Street, so who knows. Again, there’s one very disturbing scene in this scene that seems to unequivocally say what the filmmakers think about Trump’s character. This will be the most controversial scene. Has he already started that process? It’s also missing that scene which made me even more upset and sad.
I think that was the intention
Some people won’t like it — people who like and don’t like Trump — and I wonder if The Apprentice will be this year’s blonde. The “student” writes everything and I don’t. I don’t think it quite knew how to end, but otherwise I found it engaging. The three leads, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong and Maria Bakalova, are phenomenal. Juxtaposing Trump’s brief rise with Roy Cohn’s downfall was an inevitable angle, but it makes for an extremely compelling drama.
This movie will be on my mind for a while
It’s a blunt film, but there are some nuances in parts that I think will spark debate and/or controversy. I’m not always into provocation, but when it’s purposeful and based on good filmmaking, I’m on board. Check out our list of exciting new movies from this year’s film festivals including Venice, TIFF, New York Film Festival and more.
