The show moves the setting to the present era
Link Graham Norton and guest stars: Denzel Washington / Paul Mescal / Saoirse Ronan / Eddie Redmayne / Blossoms (2024). For the most part, it’s well done, with the Jackal cast being very good here. It occasionally has scenes where I think it’s unlikely that Jackal wouldn’t have been easily recognized by a security camera, such as in ep1 after the sniper shot him as he left his hotel.
Maybe it’s because it’s based on an old book (or TV show?) where that wasn’t a concern
Also, the second and probably bigger issue is that the actress playing the lady detective can’t really express herself and only has one facial expression. At work? Blank stare.
Talking to your daughter?
Got shot? Blank stare. Black stare.
