Britain allowed filming in the Foreign Secretary’s office, an honor rarely granted to any film or screen production, especially an American one

In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, lands a high-profile job for which she is ill-suited and which has tectonic implications for her marriage and political future. The producers convinced both the American and British governments to allow them to use real-life settings as filming locations for the series, including the still-recent US Embassy (in Nine Elms), which opened in 2018.

One missing location was Winfield House, the actual residence of the US ambassador. Although it is accurately described as the largest residential plot in London (11 hectares) besides Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming.

Her portrayal of American career diplomat Kate Wyler is a mesmerizing mix of strength, humor, intelligence, vulnerability and, oh, sexiness. "Diplomat" skillfully caricature the world of international diplomacy and its inhabitants.
Now all Netflix needs to do is release season 2 and let Russell and company continue their magic
And while the world has yet to descend on the ingenuity of the story’s plot, the wonderfully talented and diverse cast makes it easy to believe that most governments are being taken over by people who never escaped middle school. This series looks good, sounds good, feels good — it’s a load of fun and smart adult entertainment.
