Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka From melting makeup to sub-zero shooting, Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti discuss what it was like to get into character during the production of The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of The Penguin Smoke Tobacco to appear in Batman (2022), but to no avail. However, in his own series, the character is portrayed as an occasional tobacco user who prefers cigars.
Absolutely captured the tone and atmosphere
He appeared in Graham Norton in the genres: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). It’s gritty, dirty, and dark, but Farrell manages to capture that glimmer of charm that Tony Soprano did with Gandolfini. There’s a lot of dark stuff going on in the first episode, but there are still some comedic moments that fit the tone and don’t undermine it.
Where to start with Farrell
Amazing is the right word. I love watching talented star actors take on roles like this, and the makeup/CGI or whatever they did to physically transform him into the Penguin not only passes the eye test, but looks incredibly realistic. There’s always the risk that if the makeup isn’t good enough or is a little off, it can completely distract.
And Farrell as an actor is completely immersed in the role
In the case of the Penguin, it enhances his performance and the overall quality of the show, because it’s a damn good job. I may be a little biased because he was one of my favorite actors before this show, but I think he’ll get some much-deserved recognition for it. I never really tune into new shows right away because I like to watch all the episodes at once, but I wanted to see how this one actually turned out.
Kudos to everyone involved
I wasn’t disappointed, it blew me away. Season 5, Part 2, “The Squid Game” Season 2 and more of the most anticipated new and returning series coming to TV and streaming.
