Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) were close friends in their youth when they worked together for the same magazine. Ingrid became a writer of auto novels and Marta a war reporter, and life circumstances separated them. After years of not communicating, they meet again in an extreme but strangely endearing situation.
