The comet that Barbe Nicole mentions in her letters and later uses as inspiration to name her Champagne brand is the Great Comet of 1811, officially named C.
Barbe Nicole died at the age of 89

But in fact he died at the age of 88
The drama of a relatively dry period "Leski Clicquot" is the true story of how, in the late 16th century, the eponymous Barbe Nicole Clicquot (rising star Haley Bennett – excellent) inherited the Clicquot vineyards in Champagne from mad genius husband Tom Sturridge, and fought with steely determination (and support from Sam Riley) against those around her (including Ben Miles and Paul Rhys) largely chauvinistic pressure AND oppressive Napoleonic laws to forge a legacy through Veuve Clicquot that lives on today.
